The neighborhood of Watts has the lowest life expectancy in the entire state of California. While it’s not an easy place to grow up, it might be even harder to break the cycle and leave Watts for college. Watts2Boston is a non-profit that pairs high school students in Watts with host families in Boston to help them navigate their path to college. Arnold partnered with Watts2Boston to tell Celeste’s story, who is now on full scholarship at Northeastern University.
